Taylor Swift ‘secretly engaged to British boyfriend Joe Alwyn’

Taylor Swift has reportedly been engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn for “a few months” for more than five years.

The Sun claims the 32-year-old singer has been wearing an engagement ring “behind closed doors” and that the couple have only updated their close friends of the news.

Taylor began dating the Conversations With Friends star, 31, in late 2016 after the two reportedly crossed paths at this year’s Met Gala in New York City.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Taylor’s rep for comment.

“Taylor and Joe are incredibly happy and very, very much in love,” a source who claimed to be close to Joe told the outlet Wednesday.

“They have actually been engaged for a few months but have only told their inner circle – basically immediate family and trusted very old friends.

“Everyone was also sworn to secrecy.”

The insider claims Joe gave Taylor a “beautiful ring,” but “she only wears it when she’s at home, ie behind closed doors.”

“Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding, and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement,” they claim.

The source also told The Sun that Taylor and Joe “want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible” and that their alleged engagement is “just for them”.

“And if they do tie the knot, it definitely won’t be Vogue, Rolling Stone, or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant – like her.”

According to the outlet, there are “no specific wedding details” and it’s unknown if the couple will officially announce the alleged engagement.

The Lover singer reportedly launched her romance with Joe just months after her shock split from Loki actor Tom Hiddleston in September 2016.

Taylor gave fans a glimpse of their budding romance by alluding to Joe in lyrics on her 2017 hit album Reputation, including the song Gorgeous, in which she recalls making fun of his English accent.

The Grammy-winning actress opened up even more on her 2019 album Lover, where she gushed about her “London Boy” on several tracks.

The song Cruel Summer is also said to be about the intersection between the beginning of her romance with Joe and the end of her affair with Hiddleston.

Joe told The Sunday Times in 2018 that he found it “flattering” that Taylor was using him as her musical muse.

Just two years later, Taylor welcomed her boyfriend into the world of songwriting by allowing him to write lyrics for her 2020 graduate, Folklore.

Under the pseudonym “William Bowery”, Joe co-wrote two songs for the Grammy-winning album and three more songs for Folklore’s sister album Evermore.

Although she feels safe opening up about her music, Taylor previously stated that her relationship with the British hunk “is not up for discussion” in the press.

She discussed the decision to keep their romance “private” on her Netflix documentary 2020 Miss Americana, which included rare footage of herself and Joe.

She described “falling in love with someone who had a really wonderfully normal, balanced, grounded life,” and they “decided together that we wanted our relationship to be private.”

Though the couple is yet to make a red carpet debut, they have attended several high-profile events together — including the Golden Globes in 2020.

Taylor has dated a number of high profile men over the course of her young life including pop rocker Harry Styles, actor Jake Gyllenhaal, DJ Calvin Harris, singer Joe Jonas and rock heartthrob John Mayer.
