It was a very busy first day of NBA Free Agency on Thursday. By our count, since the official start of the negotiation period at 5:00 PM CT, a total of 38 free agents have agreed to new contracts, while seven other players have either signed or agreed to contract extensions.
However, all of those deals were overshadowed by the drama in Brooklyn, where Kevin Durant reportedly asked the Nets to trade him. With Durant’s situation unresolved, we could see some serious fireworks in the coming days.
In the meantime, below are all the free agent deals, contract renewals, trades and other notable news from the free agents day one.
Free Agent Agreements:
These deals aren’t official yet, so reported terms could change — or deals could fall through altogether. In general, however, teams and players are on track to finalize these agreements sometime after the moratorium ends on July 6th.

- Karl-Anthony-Cities, wood wolves agree to a four year super max veteran extension.
- Yes Morant, grizzlies agree to a five-year extension of the maximum salary rookie scale.
- gary harris, magic officially completed $26 million two-year veteran extension.
- bull prince, wood wolves officially completed $16 million two-year veteran extension.
- Squidward Young, birds of prey officially completed $16 million two-year veteran extension.
Businesses:
- That jazz traded Royce O’Neale to the nets in exchange for either the Rockets, Nets, or Sixers picking for the 2023 first round (whichever is least favourable).
- That hawks and spores officially completed their trade show Dejount Murray and Jock Landale to Atlanta for Danilo Gallinari and three first-round picks and one first-round pick swap. Gallinari is expected to be dispensed with.
Other news:
- That Pistons and Kemba Walker enter into an acquisition agreement.
- That jazz waived Juancho Hernangomez.
- Former head coach of the Sixers Brett Brown rejoined Gregg Popovich‘s spores employee as an assistant.
