AirPods Pro 2 is said to have an improved H1 chip, Find My, heart rate detection, USB-C and more

The next-gen AirPods Pro could come with a long list of new features, including heart rate detection, the ability to act as a hearing aid, and a USB-C port, according to a report by 52audio.

The site claims that it has received new information about the “AirPods Pro” 2 and it has used that information to provide some renderings of what the earbuds might look like. Design-wise, there’s still a stem, contrary to some rumors of a stemless look, and overall the AirPods Pro 2 look very similar to the AirPods Pro and AirPods 3.

While the “AirPods Pro” 2 look similar to the “AirPods Pro”, 52audio claims that there will be a long list of new features. We’ve heard some of these rumors before, but today’s report has a lot more detail.

  • Updated H1 chip – The updated H1 chip is expected to feature an improved SiP package system and self-adaptive noise reduction capabilities. It will also include better performance and improved power consumption.
  • find mine – The “AirPods Pro” 2 are expected to support the “Find My” feature, so they can be found using the “Find My” app. Previous rumors have suggested there will be a speaker on the case that will allow them to play a sound if misplaced.
  • heart rate detection – We heard rumors about health sensors coming to the “AirPods Pro” earlier, and 52audio claims they will be able to detect heart rate in the ear.
  • temperature detection – The heart rate sensor may also support temperature detection, but 52audio says this could not be confirmed.
  • sound improvements – The ‌AirPods Pro‌ 2 will appear to share acoustics with the ‌AirPods 3‌, which will feature a “combination of custom high amplitude drive units and high dynamic range amplifiers”. Self-adjusting equalization, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, and audio sharing are included.
  • USB-C – Instead of Lightning, the “AirPods Pro” 2 could use a USB-C connector.
  • Hearing Aid Skills52audio claims that the ‌AirPods Pro‌ 2 will serve as a hearing aid. Sound can apparently be “collected through the charging case and streamed to the headphones for sound enhancement and playback,” with the goal of helping people with hearing loss hear sounds around them better. The site believes what was previously described as a lanyard holder on the side of the “AirPods Pro” 2 is actually some sort of hearing aid feature, which sounds questionable.

We’ve heard rumors about most of these features in the past, but the hearing aid feature is new. We’ve also heard mixed rumors about the AirPods Pro 2’s design, but the information is solidifying around an AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro look that continues to sport a stalk.

52audio has a history of providing accurate information about Apple’s upcoming audio products, but the site has also circulated some questionable rumors, giving it a mixed track record. Some of these features sound plausible because we’ve heard references to them before, but others, like the hearing aid feature, are fancier. For this reason, this information should be viewed with a certain degree of skepticism.
