Amber Heard fears further silence after Johnny Depp trial – May 1
Amber Heard has given her first interview since losing her multi-million dollar libel battle against ex-husband Johnny Depp.
After sitting down with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie last week, segments were previewed today Show with the full interview scheduled for June 17th at 8pm EST.
Heard says she will stand by her testimony at the trial “until the day I die,” but with the trial taking place on social media, she believes even the best-intentioned juror would have found it difficult to avoid.
Heard described the process as “humiliating” and that she felt “less than human.” She admitted that she and Depp look like spoiled “Hollywood brat” to the average person, but claims her case was about freedom of speech.
Guthrie challenged Heard about her own actions in the relationship and she admitted to doing and saying “horrible, regrettable things” but said she “always told the truth.”
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million for alleging he abused her in a Washington Post op-ed. She was pursuing a $100 million countersuit, accusing him of running a “defamation campaign” against her.

Heard asked if she felt the threatening lyrics of “total global humiliation” came true
Ms Guthrie asks if Ms Heard feels a promise made by Johnny Depp in a text that she would face “total global humiliation” has come true.
“I know he promised … and I testified to it … I’m not a good victim, I understand I’m not a sympathetic victim, I’m not a perfect victim, but when I testified, the jury asked me to simply be.” To see man and to see his own words, which is a promise to do so. It feels like he did it.”

Why Heard is now speaking up
A Heard Offer spokeswoman issued a statement in response to the news of her first TV interview The Independent:
“Johnny Depp’s legal team flooded the media with numerous statements and interviews on television for days after the verdict, and Depp himself did the same on social media.
“MS. Heard simply wanted to respond to what you aggressively did last week; she did so by expressing her thoughts and feelings, many of which were not allowed on the witness stand.”

Looking to the future, Ms. Heard looks forward to being a full-time mom without having to juggle lawyers.
When asked how she might one day want or need to tell her daughter what she’s been through and what she’s going to say, Ms Heard replies: “I think whatever it is, it’s going to mean something. I did the right thing to stand up for myself and the truth.”

In an awkward back-and-forth, Ms Guthrie challenges Ms Heard over the promise to donate $7 million out of their divorce settlement to charity, which didn’t happen, and whether it undermined her credibility with the jury.
Ms Heard says it was an example of the Depp team making slurs about who she was as a person and her credibility, calling her a lawyer.
Ms Guthrie points out that this was the process and a credibility contest.
The actor says she shouldn’t have said she’d donate the money to believe it, to which Ms Guthrie replies she shouldn’t have, but she did.
Ms. Heard says she still intends to keep the promise to the ACLU and LA Children’s Hospital.

Amber Heard tells Savannah Guthrie she still loves Johnny Depp six years after their divorce and after all the legal turmoil.
“I love him. I loved him with all my heart. I tried my best to make a deeply broken relationship work, but I couldn’t.”
“I don’t have any bad feelings or resentments towards him at all,” she adds. “I know that could be hard to understand, or it could be really easy to understand, if you’ve ever loved someone it should be easy.”

Amber Heard denies tipping TMZ on when she would go to court to get the restraining order.
Ms Guthrie also asks her the number of specific incidents of abuse she has testified about and the response of the Depp team in posting photos of her in public after the alleged incidents without bruising or markings.
Ms Heard says if she had bruises it was said it was fake, if she didn’t it wasn’t said to have happened.

Amber Heard says she fears further defamation actions by Johnny Depp and is nervous about what she can say after the trial.
“No matter what I say or how I say it, every step I take will provide another opportunity for that kind of silence, which I believe should prompt a defamation lawsuit.”
Savannah Guthrie asks why she wrote the comment.
Ms Heard says she did not write about their relationship but lent her voice to a broader issue and had teams of lawyers read the article to ensure she was not defaming it.
