A source close to Amber Heard has issued a strong response to Kate Moss, who denied a claim that Johnny Depp pushed her down stairs during their relationship in the 1990s.

Ms Moss testified for just minutes via video link at the defamation trial against Mr Depp and Ms Heard on Wednesday. She said she fell down a flight of stairs while on vacation with Mr. Depp in Jamaica and that he helped and took care of her at the time.

“We left the room, Johnny went ahead of me, and there had been a rainstorm,” she said. “As I left the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back.

“I was screaming because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He ran back to help me, carried me back to my room, and got me medical attention.”

When asked about the relationship as a whole, which lasted from 1994 to 1998, Ms Moss said: “He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down a flight of stairs.”

The defense declined to cross-examine Ms. Moss.

After her testimony was completed, a source close to Ms Heard said The Independent: “So Johnny Depp didn’t abuse Kate Moss. That puts him one to two in the abuse column.

“But to this day he is zero to one in the courtroom on the central issue in that case, losing the very same case in England. And when the jury deliberates on the unique question in this case — whether Amber Heard can exercise her right to free speech — he will be zero for two, no matter how hard his attorneys try to divert and divert the jury’s attention.”

Ms Moss’ name surfaced during Ms Heard’s courtroom testimony earlier this month as she described a time when Mr Depp allegedly “[swung] at” her sister while standing with her back to a staircase.

The alleged incident was reported in 2016 by TMZ, which wrote that Ms Heard “allegedly grabbed and punched [Ms van Ree] in the arm, which upset [Ms van Ree] and triggered the arrest”.
