Rizzo was scheduled to accept the Impact Award on behalf of her late spouse, who was found dead on January 9 at the age of 65 from head trauma in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida.
The Eat Travel Rock personality told the show that Saget would have been “thrilled” to be critically acclaimed with the Impact Award, which focuses on career achievements in the non-fiction, unscripted and reality television genres.
“He would be so thrilled – no, he is – so thrilled, to be so honored and most importantly honored by the critics,” said Rizzo, who tied the knot with Saget in October 2018, on the red carpet in One Clip to the show’s Twitter page.
She added, “He would be thrilled and surprised in equal measure … he would be so, so happy, so honored and so touched, and I’m just so honored to be here in his place.”

Saget’s longtime Full House co-star John Stamos was scheduled to present the honors to Rizzo on Sunday.
Saget hosted the 2018 NPACT Impact Awards, renamed the Critics Choice TV Awards in 2019.
Randy and Jason Sklar were set to host Sunday’s show, with notable names such as Padma Lakshmi, Garcelle Beauvais and Kandi Burruss serving as presenters, Variety reported.

Saget was recently remembered in a Netflix special titled Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute, which debuted Friday, which was filmed earlier this year at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and featured a series of vivid memories of the late actor and comedian included.
Among those featured in the special were Rizzo, Stamos, John Mayer, Chris Rock, Jim Carrey, Jeffrey Ross, Paul Rodriguez and Dave Chappelle.
In the special, Rizzo joked how Saget would take her around the famous comedy venue and show her “all the places people would do coke in the ’80s,” adding, “There were a lot of stops on the tour about it.”
She remarked, “The most important thing for him was belonging to this club, being a comedian. I know he would be – he’s feeling so honored right now. He would love that. I know he’s looking down and he’s so happy.”
