Since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange has become an increasingly important part of the franchise’s growing story. Most recently, Cumberbatch led the way in his second solo film. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhich opened the door to other dimensions and gave the good doctor wild new powers that he could explore in future adventures.
Though it lost some momentum en route to its eventual run at the box office, Doctor Strange 2 made its mark financially as it became the second-highest-grossing film after Phase 4 Spider-Man: No Way Home. There are still a few weeks left to amplify that run and possibly approach the $1 billion mark globally, keeping Strange in the spotlight for the foreseeable future.
That all precedes Doctor Strange 2 Arriving on Disney+ to join four other live-action films starring Cumberbatch (excluding Sony’s Spiderman triple). In anticipation of this event, the streaming platform is paying its own special tribute to the master magician, bringing his six-year journey in the MCU together in one place.

Marvel collections grow with Doctor Strange Addition
Since the MCU restarted with Phase 4 in early 2021, the Disney+ Collections have become a mainstay of the service as the franchise nears three dozen combined films and TV shows.
These include larger collections like the entire Infinity Saga (phases 1-3) and smaller collections for individual characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye; these usually debut fairly shortly before or after a new entry arrives on the service. There are also more specialized collections that feature MCU projects across the platform, although these didn’t always best fit their criteria.
With Doctor Strange becoming such a major player in the MCU going forward, it seems only right that he should have his own specialized set of films for fans to enjoy on Disney+.
In the last six years, Benedict Cumberbatch has found himself starring in six live-action films, to which he has lent his voice talents What happened if…? to give Strange a major role in the animated multiversal crossover event. Well, than Doctor Strange 2 sets its own records on Disney+ and sets the mark for the shortest time between theatrical release and Disney+ debut, this collection should be hugely popular in the weeks to come.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still in theaters and will premiere on June 22nd on Disney+.
