Doja Cat stops vaping after infected tonsils

“I cried for hours. It’s not worth it.”

If you follow Doja Cat on Instagram — or if you caught up with this year’s Billboard Music Awards — you might have noticed that she vapes quite a bit.

The singer frequently puffs on her vape during her IG Live sessions — and when she won Best R&B Album at the BBMAs, Doja could be seen puffing on her vape (and taking a quick sip of her drink) right before her acceptance speech took).

Yesterday she revealed on her IG Story that all of her upcoming tour dates have been canceled due to a “routine” tonsillectomy.

“[T]Recovery will take a while due to the swelling,” she said in the statement. “I feel awful but can’t wait for it to heal and get back to making music and creating an experience for you all.”

The day before she announced the tour’s cancellation, Doja alluded to some “bad news” in a series of tweets, in which she revealed she had an abscess in her left tonsil – likely due to her vaping habit.

Dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. I had an abscess in it. My whole throat is fucked so I might have bad news for you guys soon.

She went on to explain that her tonsils got infected and took antibiotics before the BBMAs — but she “forgot” that she was on medication and “drank wine and vaped all day.”

Nah, my tonsils got infected before bbmas and I took damn antibiotics but forgot I took them and then I drank wine and vaped all day and then I started getting a nasty ass growth on my tonsils got it, so they had to have surgery on it today.

“I started getting a nasty growth on the butt of my tonsils so they had to operate on them today,” Doja called.

In answer to a Twitter user who asked her if she still vaped, Doja said she was “quitting for a while” to kick the habit for good.

I’m going to stop vaping for a while and hope I don’t crave it anymore. https://t.co/d2pSS2V5Eg

“I’m too scared to hit it because my throat hurts so much,” she said continued. “I cried for hours. It’s not worth it.”

“Think of all this as funny [sic] toxic shit in the vape seeping into the totally open sore in my throat so damn it”, Doja added. “I’m damn young.”

After another Twitter user told her to “throw the vape away,” she said answered that this would only “panic” them. “I’m addicted, but I’m not weak,” she said. “I literally stared at my vape today, which I would normally have puffed a thousand times a day, and instead took two.”

Throwing them away only causes panic. I’m addicted but I’m not weak. I literally stared at my vape today, which I normally draw a thousand times a day, and twice instead. I’m trying to go cold turkey for now, but hopefully by then my brain won’t need it at all. https://t.co/k8JjcUG8NB

“And what makes you all think I can’t buy a 50 pack now?” Doja continues explained while saying that her “brain is addicted” to vaping.

“It’s not about throwing them away, it’s about not needing them. Right now I NEED YOU. I do not want her [right now] because I’m in pain.”

Then yes called that anyone telling her to “THROW IT THEN QUEEN” sounded “condescending” to “anyone who actually has problems [with] nicotine addiction.”

So foh with that “THROW IT THEN QUEEN” shit. that doesn’t help anyone and it just sounds condescending to anyone actually struggling with nicotine addiction. I’ve tried everything that gets thrown away. it does not work.

they also thanked fans for “all the reassurance” and said it “would make me cry”. “I appreciate it,” she said. “Thank you for your support. I love you.”

You’re about to make me cry with all the reassurance. I appreciate it. thanks for your support. I love you.
