Drake, Kevin Gates, Logic and More - New Hip-Hop Projects

Week after week, hip-hop never disappoints when it comes time for new music. This week, the world’s greatest rapper returns with a surprise new LP, a Baton Rouge, La. spitter gets a lot out of his soul with a new album and a formerly retired MC brings out a project just in time for his massive summer tour and more.

Out of nowhere, Drake just showed up for the summer. On Thursday (June 16) the OVO head honcho announced his new solo album, Honestly forget it. Champagne Papi’s latest LP comes after speculation last week that he was about to release a new mixtape. The chatter was believable by the time Drizzy released album #7, less than a year after the release of his 10th chart-topping Billboard 200 project. Certified lover boy.

The new offering, which is without a lead single, is executive produced by longtime collaborator Noah “40” Shebib and features a guest appearance from 21 Savage.

The new album comes a few months after it was announced that Drake had signed a new record deal worth over $400 million. The new album is expected to be followed by a major summer tour for the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper.

Kevin Gates finally unveils his third album, khaza, after a month-long rollout. The Louisiana native has been promoting the album in every way he can, including a slew of new merch and a freestyle called “Super General” spat over Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin,” which caused quite a stir by that name due to its sexually explicit content. Drops Beyonce, Rubi Rose and others.

With Gates addressing a number of very personal issues over the course of the 19-track LP, the former XXL Freshman shows just how much his bars have evolved while staying true to the sound he’s become known for.

Led by three previously released songs, “Big Lyfe”, “Bad for Me” and “Intro”, Khaza‘s only guest contribution is from Juicy J, who appears on the track “Thinking With My Dick”. This particular song was originally dropped in 2013 but was included on the album due to its recent success on TikTok.

In favor of KhazaGates is preparing for a long tour that will last from August to October.

Logic comes with his new album, vinyl days, just as he embarks on a 28-date co-headlining tour with Wiz Khalifa beginning in July. The 30 track album is packed with guest appearances from hard hitting artists like Action Bronson, Royce 5’9”, The Game, RZA and many more.

Before the release of vinyl days, Logic actually released a total of six songs, all of which are included on the album, including “Decades”, “Tetris”, “Therapy Music” with Russ, “Orville” with Blu and Exile, “Bleed It” and “Breath Control”. Wiz Khalifa and the title track of the album “Vinyl Days” with DJ Premier. The title track mentioned above actually caused some controversy earlier this week. It has been speculated that Logic did some recording with Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Reason on the track. The 1-800-273-8255 Rhymer dispelled the rumor by taking to Twitter to address the situation and also suggesting that the two MCs meet up sometime for a sweet summer snack.

“Hey brother, @reasonTDEmy boy @thisisrory said you thought I had you dissed on my song ‘Vinyl Days,'” Logic wrote. “If I dissed you, I would diss you. I love you, you are my brother. Let’s have ice cream together sometime.”

On the same day he was announced as a member of the 2022 XXL Freshman Class, SoFaygo submitted his new one B4ROSA EP to satisfy all his fans who have been waiting for new music for a minute. While the five-track project features no guest appearances, production credits include Bakkwoods, Bryce, Y2, and ColdXsummer.

While promoting the new project on social media, SoFaygo let his Instagram followers know that it stays true to its name. B4ROSA serves as a small teaser for his much-anticipated full-length album pink heartzthose of the newly anointed XXL Freshman promises an early release.
