Missy Peregrym announced that she has given birth to a baby girl named Mela Josephine through a post shared to her Instagram account on Friday.

The 40-year-old actress posted a photo of her older son Otis, who is two years old, snuggling up next to his little sister, who arrived in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The FBI actress also penned a lengthy message expressing her feelings about bringing another child into her life. This is Missy’s second child with her husband Tom Oakley.

Peregrym first spoke about the feelings she felt during the birth of Mela Josephine.

“I was scared and supported, excited and cheered, fully seen and heard. Lots of tears, questions and just as much laughter,” she wrote.

The performer then revealed that she opted for a water birth, which she found to be a positive experience.

“Usually it’s all about the baby, but this time I got all the care I needed before, during and after the birth. I’m so thankful I had the space to choose every step of the way, rewarded with the calmest, gentlest entry into the world for Mela,” she noted.

Peregrym made a point of illustrating the devotion of her husband, with whom she shares Otis and their newborn daughter.

“I can’t say enough about how committed Tom was to allowing me to rest and do whatever it took to be present. Our journey has not been easy in any way, but it has been full and I am incredibly blessed to have him as my partner,” she noted.

The actress then revealed she was taking a brief hiatus from her acting career to look after her child, writing, “@fbicbs is starting up again in a few weeks but I’ll be back to work in September. ‘

Peregrym then expressed that she felt fortunate to be able to take some time off from her work commitments after Mela’s birth.

She wrote, “I’m relieved and grateful to be given the space to connect with my family, rest and heal, and be a mom (which is harder than work!).”

The actress concluded by writing, “I understand that this is a luxury and I wish every mother/parent/carer had one too.”

Peregrym and Oakley married in 2018 and brought Otis into their lives three years later.

The actress was married to Zachary Levi for a year and their marriage ended in 2015.

She eventually moved on with her current husband and announced that she was pregnant with their second child last February.
