successor leads the 2022 Emmy Awards nominations announced Tuesday morning.
HBO’s drama series garnered 25 total nominations, followed by Apple’s Teddy Lasso and HBO’s the white lotus, who each earned 20.
Other series of two-letter nouns include Chop (17 names), Only murders in the building (17), euphoria (16), barry (14), Intoxicated (14), severance pay (14), Squid Game (14), ozark (13), stranger things (13), The wonderful Mrs. Maisel (12) and Pam & Tommy (10).
Overall, HBO led all nominations by platform with a total of 108 nominations, beating out Netflix, which received 105.
Among the more notable snubs were yellowstone, who didn’t deserve a single nom, stranger things Sadie Sink and Only murders in the building Selena Gomez, both of whom have been disqualified from the acting races.
JB Smoove and Melissa Fumero announced during a virtual ceremony who will be in contention for some of television’s top honors.
The 2022 Emmy Awards will air live on NBC coast-to-coast on Monday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT. The show will also stream live on Peacock.
The ceremony typically airs on a Sunday, except in years when NBC has broadcast rights, as the network airs NFL games on Sunday nights. The Emmys show rotates between ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. When NBC last aired the Emmys four years ago, the awards ceremony was on a Monday.
Prior to the main ceremony on NBC, the Creative Arts Emmys will be held over two nights, Saturday September 3rd and Sunday September 4th. An edited version of the Creative Arts Emmys will air September 10 at 8 p.m. FXX.
