Jamie Spears wants Britney Spears deposed

Jamie Spears’ legal team is reportedly trying to challenge a number of claims Britney made against her father, including that she was “forced to give 8 tubes of blood for medical treatment” and “was not allowed to possess painkillers.”

Britney Spears may be free from her conservatory, but it seems her legal battles are far from over.

Legal documents filed by Jamie Spears’ team, first obtained by TMZ, appear to focus on allegations Britney Spears has made alleging that her father acted abusively during her conservatorship.

To bring you up to date with all the pertinent information, we fast-rewind to June of last year, when Spears appeared in court to demand an end to her nearly 14-year conservatorship, which her father and a series of attorneys controlled about her gave life and finance since 2008.

During this virtual court appearance, Spears spoke publicly for the first time about the “abusive” terms of the agreement and compared her experience to sex trafficking. She went on to tell the courtroom that her father “and everyone involved in this conservatorship” should be in prison.

At the time, her father responded in a statement through his lawyer, saying he was “sorry to see his daughter suffer and be in so much pain.”

Three months later, a judge suspended Jamie as curator of Britney Spears’ estate, before the curatorship finally ended in November.

As you probably know, in the time since she was freed from her father’s control, Spears has taken to social media to speak more fully with her fans about the terms of her guardianship — often commenting on her family’s behind-the-scenes guilt .

Echoing her testimony last year, Spears wrote in social media posts that she believes her father should face legal action for allegedly abusing his role as conservator. “What Dad did to me, they don’t even do to criminals. …I’m honestly shocked dad isn’t in jail,” she wrote Twitter in January.

So it’s this particular aspect of Spears’ social media activities that her father is now trying to bring to the fore by asking her to sit down for a full statement.

In the new legal filings, Jamie Spears’ team hopes to legally challenge allegations his daughter has made against him, including specific allegations that she “was forced to give 8 tubes of blood for medical treatment, was forced to attend therapy , and was not allowed to have pain medication,” reports TMZ.

However, according to Jamie Spears’ lawyers, Britney Spears is trying to avoid testifying.

His team also pointed to reports that Britney Spears is set to make an estimated $15 million from her forthcoming memoir about her conservatorship — the very subject she says she’s refusing to discuss in court.

“Britney’s attorney has no legitimate legal basis to contradict Britney’s testimony,” Jamie Spears’ attorneys state, arguing that she “continues to make public social media posts containing inflammatory claims about various facts.”

They say they have the right to remove Britney Spears because “she’s the person making unsubstantiated claims” against Jamie Spears.

The documents go on to say that Britney Spears’ team cannot dispute the testimony due to concerns that the survey may involve “emotionally difficult topics,” arguing that such matters are discussed extensively on Spears’ social media pages were addressed. According to People, the documents relate to several of the singer’s Instagram posts over the past few months.

“She claims through her court filings and through her musings on social media that she knows all sorts of information regarding her allegations of misconduct,” the Spears filing reads.

They add that she either: “(1) has knowledge of her allegations, which she claims to have in court filings and on social media; or (2) has no such knowledge or support and simply believes that she can say whatever she wants in court and on social media, regardless of whether her allegations are true.”

Jamie Spears’ motion comes less than a month after Britney Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart made a similar motion to compel Jamie to participate in testimony. Just like Jamie’s lawyers, Rosengart accused Jamie Spears of “running and hiding” before answering Britney’s questions.

It remains unclear whether either party will be deposed before their scheduled July 13 court hearing. But until then, it seems unlikely that Britney Spears will offer any further thoughts on social media as her Instagram account is currently nowhere to be found.

After her page mysteriously disappeared from the platform without warning late last week, TMZ investigated the matter and received confirmation from a spokesman at Instagram that the platform was not involved in the removal of her account.

Of course, if you’ve been following Britney for a while, you know this isn’t the first time she’s gone through a sudden social media detox. She last removed her Instagram account in March before returning to the platform a few days later.
