Lil Nas X vented his frustration after receiving ZERO BET Awards nominations in a series of now-deleted tweets: “I just feel like black gay people have to fight to be seen in this world.”

Lil Nas X was quick to take to social media to express his frustration at not receiving any nominations for the 2022 BET Awards … though he quickly deleted them.
The 23-year-old musician has won two Grammy Awards with 11 nominations since bursting onto the scene in 2020, although he only has one BET Awards nomination for Best New Artist in 2020, which he lost to Roddy Ricch.
The rapper (born Montero Lamar Hill) took to Twitter shortly after the nominations were announced on Wednesday, calling out the awards show before deleting his tweets.

‘Thank you bet prizes. an outstanding zero nominations again. black excellence!’ he said with a black prayer hands emoji and a heart emoji.
The openly gay singer also responded to a fan who asked why he thought he should have been nominated.
“Idk maybe 3 of the biggest songs of the last year and a critically acclaimed album…I think that should have helped me a bit,” he said.

He continued by pointing out how black gay people are always struggling to be seen.
“Not even that, I don’t even need to be nominated, I just feel like black gay people have to fight to be seen in this world and even if we make it to the top, MFS are trying to pretend that we would be invisible,” he added.

The song was also nominated for a Grammy for Record Of the Year and won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Won and Best Music Video for the remix with Billy Ray Cyrus.
