Popular Minecraft streamer and content creator, Technoblade, died of cancer at the age of 23 almost a year after announcing his diagnosis.
In a YouTube video titled “So long nerds,” Techoblade’s dad shared a message from his son announcing the streamer’s death.
“Hello everyone, Technoblade here,” the message began. “If you’re looking at this. I’m dead.”
In the video, Technoblade revealed that his real name was Alexander as he kept his identity a secret from his fans.
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had a hundred more lives I would choose to be Technoblade all over again because those were the happiest years of my life.”
According to his father, Technoblade wrote his last message to his fans about eight hours before his death.
“I don’t think he said everything he wanted to say, but I think he got the main points,” he said in an emotional statement.
“He was the most amazing kid anyone could ever ask for. I miss Technoblade.
“Thank you all, for everything. You meant a lot to him.”
Techno’s family now runs his merch shop if fans want to keep supporting him and his channel.
“In honor of his memory, a portion of the proceeds from all online orders will be donated to a wonderful organization called curesarcoma.org.
“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
CANCER DIAGNOSIS
His cancer diagnosis was made public back in August 2021, with Techno explaining that he started experiencing pain in his arm in July and took a few days off to recover as he put it down to a repeat stress injury from games.
But after a few days, he noticed his shoulder was swelling and thought he had broken a bone, so he went to the hospital.
“They did some scans and told me my arm hurts because I have cancer,” he explained in his latest video.
“It really couldn’t have gone any worse.”
FAMILY STATEMENT
The video ended with a statement from Techo’s family follows this was also shared by e-sports gamer Jake Lucky on Twitter.
“We, the Technoblade family, wanted you all to know how much he adores and respects his fans and colleagues.
“Since Technoblade’s earliest online days, he’s always strategized to please and reward his audiences – by giving away online prizes, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most importantly, sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughs.
“Even after his later successes, he’s somehow managed to maintain his good-natured humility and compete with an endearing balance of confidence and self-deprecating wit.”
The statement explained that despite having over 10 million subscribers, Techo worked to keep its identity a secret.
“We ask that you continue to comply with his wishes to protect his privacy and the privacy of his family.”
Several content creators have shared tributes online, including Ludwig, who has over 3 million subscribers.
“I’ve been watching Technoblade over and over for the past hour.” he wrote.
“He was so witty and so humble, even in the hardest of times. I will always look up to him.”
“I’m actually so devastated. I’ve watched almost every Technoblade video over the years,” said the Runescape streamer. Done.
“Such a bloody warrior for going through what he did. You have entertained many people and improved their lives, King.”
Minecraft streamer Dream wrote a heartwarming message on his YouTube Community tab in honor of Techo.
“Rest in peace Technoblade. I wouldn’t be half the person I am without being inspired, challenged and uplifted by you and your endless positivity.
“The world will miss you and your influence and positivity will live on and never leave our hearts. Technoblade really never dies.”
