Natalie Portman’s co-star Chris Hemsworth had her vegan diet in mind while filming Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love And Thunder, which hit theaters this past weekend.

During an interview with Britain’s Capital FM, the actress revealed that the Australian hunk abstained from meat before their kissing scene.

“He’s really nice. The day we had a kissing scene, he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan,” she told the outlet.

She joked that this wasn’t an easy feat for Hemsworth, as he’s building himself up for the superhero movies by eating “meat like every half hour” on top of his grueling workout.

Jokes aside, the Black Swan star recalled being struck by Hemsworth’s thoughtfulness, especially since she’d never asked him to give up his carnivore ways for her.

“That was so thoughtful. It’s not something I’m angry or worried about, but he was just thinking. He’s just a very nice person,” she enthused.

During the Capital FM interview, she was joined by her other Thor: Love And Thunder co-star Tessa Thompson, who jokingly added that she didn’t even know [Hemsworth] could do without meat.

“It’s like eating bison in the morning. This is so cute.’

Portman became vegan in 2011 after decades of vegetarianism. In contrast to a vegetarian diet – which avoids meat – is a vegan diet free from meat and animal products such as dairy, eggs and honey.

Like Hemsworth, the vegan star was asked to polish up her famously petite physique for her character Jane Foster’s transformation into the Mighty Thor.

It was the first time the Oscar winner had been asked to gain weight for a role, and she previously revealed she lifted weights and drank protein shakes to get into superhero shape.

She is said to have trained for 10 months to get into her character, who is said to be six feet tall – nearly 10 inches taller than her when she is 5 feet 3 inches tall.

“I’ve definitely gotten bigger than I’ve ever been,” she added. ‘You realize: ‘Oh, it must be so different, going through the world like that.’

She added with a laugh, “As a 5’7” female, I don’t know if I’ll ever be cast as a 6ft character again. I really enjoyed that people saw me that tall.

Portman compared the process to her Oscar-winning role in 2010’s Black Swan, where she famously lost 20 pounds through diet and exercise, but now found she needed to gain weight and build muscle.

“On Black Swan, I was asked to go as small as possible,” she reveals. “Here I was asked to grow as tall as possible. It’s a great challenge – and also a state of mind as a woman.”

Portman’s epic superhero transformation was also well-received by her children – Amalia, five, and Aleph, 11, who she shares with husband Benjamin Millepied – who were thrilled to see their mother in action.

“I feel like this is the phase of my career where I’m really trying to impress my kids,” Portman told Variety.

“My 5 year old and 10 year old were so excited about this process to visit the set and see me in a cape. It made it really cool. You know, it’s very rare for my kids to say, “Please go to work!” It’s usually just the opposite.”
