NWA Alwayz Ready results: Cardona's status as an injured world champion

NWA ushers in the era of Matt Cardona with a PPV inspired by his mantra. Always ready goes live Saturday, June 11 at 8pm ET.

Cardona is scheduled to defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Nick Aldis in the main event. A small problem though. Cardona tore his bicep and underwent surgical repairs. Cardona will be at the show, but it’s unclear how this situation will be resolved. The answer lies in the whims of Billy Corgan.

In addition to the Cardona dilemma, there are six other title fights, the swan song of Aron Stevens and the debut of Taya Valkyrie.

The NWA 74th Anniversary Show will be held on August 27th and 28th.

BLK Jeez will manage Tire and Austin Idol will manage Cyon. May Valentine asked probing questions and looked for tensions within the crew. BLK Jeez didn’t bite. It’s about the team, baby. They are at the top, crème de la crème, unstoppable.

Rodney Mack defeated “Magic” Jake Dumas. CJ (Christi Jaynes) was the bumbling valet for the wizard. When Dumas asked for a chair as a foreign object, CJ modeled it for the crowd with wizard-assistant movements. It took CJ so long for Mack to recover and grab Dumas from behind to win the Euthanizer cross-arm choke.

Chelsea Green provided a medical update on Matt Cardona. She married him for many reasons including his resilience. Cardona is a fighter. They’re going to go to the main event and do whatever they have to do.

“Hatchet” Sam Shaw (formerly Dexter Lumis in NXT) was welcomed back to the NWA. He did not answer any interview questions. Rush Freeman came out to interrupt. He’s a big Shaw fan. Sal Rinauro ran to attack Shaw. Shaw handled him easily. As Rinauro attacked again, Freeman grabbed Shaw’s arm for a teamwork double clothesline. Shaw remained expressionless. Freeman offered a handshake. Shaw accepted but didn’t let go. Shaw choked Freeman, then choked Rinauro. Gaagz The Gymp entered the ring but he stepped away from Shaw. Gaagz rolled Rinauro’s body outward.

The fans began with a “thank you” chant. Stevens grabbed a microphone to reply, “You’re welcome.” The crowd erupted in cheers. That really seems to have been Stevens’ retirement match.

NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy & Kenzie Paige) won the titles from The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle). Paige attempted to use the title belt as a foreign object, but the referee took it away. Paige used this distraction to kick Belle in the groin. Paige scored with a scissors swing to win in front of her hometown fans.

NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Maintained Homicide vs. PJ Hawx. The challenger had his moment to win a superplex, but he was too slow to make cover. Homicide ducked from a Superkick and hit with a cutter. Hawx stepped out and came back with a springboard crossbody. As Hawx charged for a clothesline, Homicide ducked to rock him upside down for the cop to win Killa.

After the match, the Fixers burst into the ring to beat up Homicide and Hawx. Luke Hawx ran out to protect his son, but the same fate befell him. The Mortons came to clear the Fixers’ ring. Colby Corino came out and conceded a title shot at Homicide.

NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Homicide stands against Colby Corino. The challenger was energetic, but the champion was a fighter. They brawled around the ring and Homicide got the advantage for a back body drop on stage. In the ring, Homicide met a cop Killa. Corino shocked everyone with a kickout. A dazed Corino collected with a superkick, but Homicide flattened him with a clothesline. The champion scored a roll up to win.

Jennacide won’t leave the building until she gets her hands on Natalia Markova. It’s hunting time.

Natalia Markova defeated Taya Valkyrie. Taryn Terrell was at ringside and spoiled Taya’s debut. After Taya hit the Road to Valhalla finisher, Terrell hopped onto the apron to distract the referee. Markova used a blindside spinning kick on Taya to win.

NWA National Heavyweight Championship: Jax Dane retains against Chris Adonis. Dane got stuck in the master lock submission but got close enough to the ropes to fall out of the ring. Dane smashed Adonis’ hand. This strategy paid off. As Adonis went for another Master Lock, his hand was too damaged to hold it. Dane hit with a clubbing clothesline for the win.

Aron Stevens has cut his farewell promo. He tried his best to win the world title but failed. After giving so much to business, it’s time to choose your own well-being. Stevens has a ticket to Brazil with May Valentine by his side.

Thom Latimer defeats Cyon. Austin Idol was ringside to support the masked man. Latimer took a nasty jab in the neck in the corner, so Cyon focused on that weak point. Latimer survived a stake driver to rally to win a pop-up powerbomb.

NWA World Television Championship: Tire retains against Mims. The challenger entered with a delicate arm. He did a lot of damage when he hit the ring post. The pain didn’t stop Mims from coming close to winning with a body slam and splash. Mims ended up being his own worst enemy. When he collided with Tyrus on a shoulder tackle, Mims was injured and cried out in pain. Tyrus taunted his opponent, then fired the heartbeat for victory. Tyrus then shook hands with Mims and clotheslined him to the mat.

NWA World Tag Team Championship: Commonwealth Connection (Doug Williams & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) win titles from La Rebelion (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf). The Commonwealth Connection took control when Williams hit a superplex against Bestia. Smith landed a flying headbutt. Williams pounced on a jackknife pin to win.

KiLynn King spoke about the grind on the indies that brought her to this moment. She doesn’t think Kamille is taking this match seriously. While King was at the gym every day, Kamille got married and went on their honeymoon. King will not take this championship opportunity lightly.

NWA World Women’s Championship: Kamille retains against KiLynn King. Bully Ray was in the commentary to share insights into both women’s training. Back and forth war of attrition between the powerhouses. King’s next pinfall came after a whirl with a jawbreaker, a Kingdom Falls facebuster and a frog splash. Chamomile kicked out. KiLynn fired in the corner and then ran straight into a champion’s spear. Chamomile made the pin the win.

After the match, Max The Impaler stormed into the ring. Her intention was clear to be the next challenger. Security held Max back, but Kamille wasn’t scared. The champion stood tall and held up the title.

dr Tom Prichard made a special appearance thanking the crowd.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: Matt Cardona (c) vs. Nick Aldis is cancelled. He is unable to wrestle due to Cardona’s bicep injury. After a very long promo session, Nick Aldis, Trevor Murdoch, Thom Latimer and Sam Shaw came out for a new main event. Cardona reluctantly surrendered the belt to Billy Corgan, and a four-way world title match was booked to begin now.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: Trevor Murdoch wins title against Nick Aldis, Thom Latimer and Sam Shaw in four-way battle. Chaotic brawl at the beginning. On the big moves, there was always a man around to break the pinfall or the submission. In the end, Aldis had momentum. He sent Latimer over the top with a back body drop and low-bridged Shaw out of the ring. Both men fell to the concrete floor. Murdoch sat and waited. He pounced on a flying bulldog at an unsuspecting Aldis. 1, 2, 3, Murdoch is the new NWA World Champion.
