Despite breaking through at this winter’s Screen Actors Guild Awards and forecasters predicting it would garner multiple nominations, yellowstone was excluded from the 2022 Emmy Awards nominations and didn’t receive a single nod, even for acclaimed stars Kevin Costner and Kelly Reilly.
Other series that didn’t receive an Emmy nomination this year, contrary to what the award experts had predicted, include: The Afterparty, Better Things, Ghosts, Grace and Frankie, Reservation Dogs, We Own This City, WeCrashed and Sex and the City follow up And just like that (The Original Series was an Emmy Favorite).
Similarly, her final seasons have seen frequent broadcast network Emmy nominees nominations Black and This is us only two and one nominations respectively for their final seasons, and all of those nominations were in craft categories. While Reese Witherspoon received an acting nod for the second season of The morning showJennifer Aniston, fellow and previous Emmy nominee for the show, was not among this year’s nominees for acting. And other Apple series severance pay landed a handful of nods, but none for breakout star Britt Lower.
Other cast members who didn’t receive the nominations pundits predicted include Sarah Goldberg (barry), Juliette Lewis (Yellow jackets), Maude Apatow (euphoria), Pete Davidson and Cecily Strong (Saturday night live), Yvonne Orji (Unsure), Meg Stalter (Chop), Parker Posey and Juliette Binoche (The stairs) and Brendan Hunt (Teddy Lasso).
Television shows that have received recognition as actors but have not been nominated for series trophies include, but are not limited to Atlanta, The Flight Attendant, The Great, The Staircase, The Morning Show, Killing Eve, Insecure, Under the Banner of Heaven and maid.
And on the other hand while stranger things received a string of nods, none of its performers have been nominated for acting awards, including Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink, with Twitter users citing the latter as a major snub.
On the late-night front, Amber Ruffin has not been nominated for variety sketch series or for her work on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Other late-night shows that surprisingly weren’t nominated this year include Full Frontal, The Late Late Show, Realtime with Bill Maher and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The latest in surprises American crime thriller Rate, impeachment proceedingsabout the Monica Lewinsky scandal, received less praise than its predecessors on the show, but Emmy favorite Sarah Paulson still earned a nomination this year for her portrayal of Linda Tripp.

It was also a welcome surprise Better call Saul Fans who have long campaigned for Rhea Seehorn to be included among the Emmy nominees know that this year she finally deserves recognition.
Other welcome surprises: the seven names for Yellow jacketsincluding nods to Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci, and nods to Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary School) and Toheeb Jimoh and Sarah Niles (Teddy Lasso).
