The anniversary celebration continues! After marking 70 years of the Queen’s reign with a parade, a service and a royal tour of the nations of the United Kingdom, the Royal Family head to a concert tonight: the Platinum Party at the Palace. Tonight’s event features an all-star lineup. Notably, the show will be opened by Queen and Adam Lambert and closed by superstar Diana Ross, performing live in the UK for the first time in 15 years.
“I’ve had the honor of meeting the Queen many times throughout my life, including when I’ve been with my family,” Ross said in a statement. “Her Majesty continues to be an incredible inspiration to so many around the world and I was absolutely delighted to receive an invitation to perform on such a momentous and historic occasion.”
Other performing musicians include Sir Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Duran Duran, Craig David and Andrea Bocelli. Other celebrity appearances teased ahead of the event include Sir David Attenborough, David Beckham and Dame Julie Andrews.
While the Queen herself will not be attending, several family members will be in attendance including Princes Charles and William who will deliver speeches, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Princess Anne, the Wessexes and many other relatives. The Sussexes do not appear to be at the party tonight. Today is her daughter Lili’s first birthday and it goes without saying that they are spending the day privately.
