The busy Philipps has been spotted for the FIRST TIME since announcing her split from husband, 14, Marc Silverman

The busy Phillips showed up in New York City this Saturday, taking a walk with her beloved dog, Gina, who she jokingly considers her third child.

The 42-year-old cut a stylish figure in a blue and white gingham dress, fashionably tossing a white jacket over her shoulders.

Her last appearance marked the first time she has been seen in public since announcing her 14-year marriage to Marc Silverman is over.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress, who has two children with Silverman, shared the news with fans on Friday on her podcast, Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best Is Doing Her Best.

“It’s been a really long time since Marc and I broke up and our kids know it, our families know it, our friends know it,” she revealed.

Busy explained that the couple first split in February 2021 and had been pondering how to share the news publicly.

She said: “Marc and I talked about it and when we first broke up we couldn’t even think about releasing any of those statements – it made us sick, both of us, really sick. It’s a journey.

“The safest way Marc and I have been able to ensure the privacy of our children, who we love so dearly, was not to involve the public.”

The former couple have two children – 13-year-old Birdie and eight-year-old Cricket – as the actress said there is still a lot of love and respect between the two and they are blessed to share the children together.

She concluded: “Well we love each other – very much! And we have these beautiful children together. And there are a lot of things that really work in our relationship.

Busy and Marc married in June 2007 in a ceremony that came as a surprise to their friends and family.

Back in 2018, the Cougar Town actress revealed in her memoir that her best friend Michelle Williams had brought her to divorce from her husband after an “emotional affair” with another father.

Busy confessed in her book, This Will Only Hurt A Little, that her relationship with Marc had gone through a rough patch since the birth of their first child, prompting her to seek comfort and support from someone else.

She wrote: “There was a man I was friends with, another father. We had lunch and such. Write sms. Make a lot of phone calls.

“To be honest, I had a crush on him. I like him. Maybe I even loved him? Apparently he liked me too.”

The actress wrote that she felt “unsupported” by her screenwriter husband, even calling him “useless” and claiming he “didn’t even try” to birdie when she was born.

However, it was her best friend and former Dawson’s Creek colleague Michelle, now 41, who asked her to work on her marriage.

“Two years would be really awful, and then you would find a new normal, but honestly, if you can keep your family intact, I think you should,” Michelle had said.

Busy reveals the couple then sought therapy, and Marc mostly got one-on-one sessions.

Her therapist warned her, “Listen. Divorce messes up kids. It just does.’ which had a major impact on the actress.

However, Busy admits she was still speaking to her emotional boyfriend during this time, writing, “I know. This part is so s***y. I am sorry. I’m really.’

Things finally got better for the parents of two after Marc apologized for how she was feeling after so many years alone.

Busy wrote: “Marc had a break recently and when I finally realized what the other guy was he was oddly understanding.

“It’s hard to explain exactly, but he broke out in a way and completely changed the way he dealt with everyone, not just me.”
