The anticipation of the Russo Brothers’ latest film is great, The gray man, and why shouldn’t it be? For one, there’s Anthony and Joe Russo of MCU blockbuster fame director on All Star Cast These include Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page and more. Also the story adapted from the book series by Mark Greaney has serious franchise potential (yes, we already are talk about the possible sequel). Finally, we can not not mention Evans’ classic villain mustache. Netflix The gray man was previewed on the streaming service ahead of its release, so let’s see what the early reactions are to the upcoming action thriller.
Ryan Gosling stars as former CIA agent Court Gentry, a freelance assassin nicknamed The Gray Man who is accused of a crime he may not have committed and is forced to flee and be captured by one of his ex Colleagues, Lloyd, to escape Hansen (Chris Evans). The Russo brothers are masters at pairing witty dialogue with intense action sequences, so the banter between the two stars is expected to be highly entertaining. Critic Courtney Howard says The gray man lives up to those expectations with hilarious performances from both the main and supporting cast:
[email protected]_Brother’ #TheGrayMan has relentless, well-constructed action sequences. Battle of minds, bullets and brawn. Ryan Gosling & @ChrisEvans share excellent quick wits (and sleazebag facial hair!). Ana de Armas is badass and beautiful. Dhanush’s scenes are ruthless and sharp. pic.twitter.com/aYNmxGpLkgJuly 11, 2022

“Fun” seems to be a theme among those who got an early showing of the film Big budget action film. We could see from the awesome trailer that Chris Evans is enjoying his role as a man Directors have called it “America’s asshole”. says Germain Lussier The gray man is hilarious and funny throughout, and when the plot is a little obvious, it’s never lacking in suspense:
The Gray Man is two hours of James Bond meets Fast and Furious. Super exciting action, huge scale and set pieces, solid confident performances, constant laughter, just loads of fun. Gosling and Evans reign supreme, the supporting cast are great, it’s a little obvious but never boring. pic.twitter.com/hSoTwgCMfAJuly 11, 2022

Next Best Picture’s Matt Neglia thinks this is a good popcorn movie but, despite the talented leads, it may not compare head-to-head with other action franchises. He notices that too Ana de Armas is an asshole:
THE GRAY MAN is a tactically aggressive assassin action film from the Russo Brothers. Ryan Gosling brings his usual stoic toughness against the evil charm of Chris Evans. Not as impressive as the Mission: Impossible or John Wick movies, but still a hefty slice of popcorn entertainment. pic.twitter.com/ggXuErNUYsJuly 11, 2022

This viewer agrees that Ana de Armas is impressive as Dani Miranda and actually says that she and longtime Bollywood actor Dhanush – who is making his Hollywood debut in The gray man — steal the whole show:
#TheGrayMan was top notch – High Octane – action scene after scene. @RyanGosling and @ChrisEvans are electric together and the banter is too good! Great features from #AnaDeArmas and @dhanushkraja who stole the show. Netflix and @Russo_Brothers are the best yet. pic.twitter.com/A2KyCbRahhJuly 11, 2022

With The gray man go straight to streaming instead of going to theaters (although there will be a limited theatrical release), Netflix Subscribers will have access to what this reviewer calls the perfect summer movie without having to leave the comfort of their own homes:
“The Gray Man” is the perfect summer action film 2022. Adrenaline-packed and enormously entertaining! Ryan Gosling was badass. I loved every minute of Chris Evans deliciously ruthless. #TheGrayMan #TheGrayManMovie #ChrisEvans #RyanGosling #AnaDeArmas #Netflix #FilmTwitter @netflix pic.twitter.com/hJD64w2kN0July 11, 2022

And while comparisons to other action films are to be expected, Joey Morona argues that Chris Evans’ level of batshit evil is unrivaled.
I think #TheGrayMan will get a lot of comparisons to the Bourne franchise, but the action sequences and fight scenes in the latest from @Russo_Brothers are the next level. Also, these movies never had a villain as evil (and funny) as Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen. 👍🏽👍🏽 pic.twitter.com/JTabHxnKJsJuly 11, 2022
