Beanie Feldstein has revealed she’ll be missing some Funny Girl performances due to illness.
On Friday, the actress revealed on Instagram that she is suffering from tonsillitis and will not be performing as Fanny Brice this weekend.

In an Instagram video, Feldstein, 29, first appeared to allude to the news and online commentary about her early departure from Funny Girl and the naming of Lea Michele as her successor.
“Hey everyone, I’m just getting in touch. What have I missed? What’s going on?” She began in the clip before sharing that she has tonsillitis. “I just got back from the ear, nose and throat doctor who told me I have tonsillitis which is extremely contagious. And she can’t allow me to go back on stage all weekend until I have enough antibiotics in my system to not be contagious anymore.
Feldstein added: “The last thing I would want on this earth is to make the people I love sick and I’m not allowed to go on stage all weekend. I can’t wait to spend my last two weeks and you just have to laugh at a certain point. If it rains, pour it on your old pal Bean.”

According to the Broadway musical’s website, there are two performances on Saturday and one on Sunday. The revival doesn’t have any showings on Mondays, but there is one on Tuesdays.
This is the second time Feldstein has missed shows due to illness. In June, she had to withdraw from several performances after contracting Covid-19. Her stand-by, Julie Benko, took her place.
The Funny Girl revival and Feldstein were met with mixed reviews when the show debuted in April. Feldstein received no Tony nomination for her performance, and the musical itself received only one nomination.
Meanwhile, the news of her tonsillitis comes just days after Feldstein announced on Instagram that she will be leaving Funny Girl sooner than expected. The Lady Bird actress was originally scheduled to star on the show until September 25.

In her post, Feldstein said she will be leaving “Funny Girl” at the end of the month, sharing that playing Fanny Brice on Broadway has been a lifelong dream of mine and over the past few months I have had great joy and come true Honor.”
“When the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to step down sooner than expected,” she added. “I will never forget this experience and I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who came to the August Wilson for the love and support you have shown me and our amazing cast and crew.”
The ‘Booksmart’ star praised her peers and urged fans to ‘keep joining them on Henry Street after I’m gone’.
Feldstein’s final appearance is July 31 before Benko steps in until Michele takes over in September.

After Michele was announced as Feldstein’s successor, the “Glee” graduate expressed her excitement in an Instagram post.
“A dream come true is an understatement,” she wrote Monday. “I am so incredibly honored to be joining this amazing cast and production and returning to the stage to play Fanny Brice on Broadway. See you on September 6th.”
Michelle’s former “Glee” co-star Jane Lynch also starred in the revival alongside Feldstein as Mrs. Brice, Fanny’s mother – but don’t expect a “Glee” reunion between her and Michele.
While Lynch will stay on board a little longer than Feldstein – which will be out until September 4 – it was also announced on Monday that Tovah Feldshuh will be taking on the role from Lea’s first night.
