Why Bryce Dallas Howard is still acting despite a successful directing career

Although Bryce Dallas Howard is stepping behind the camera more, she has no intention of quitting acting and has credited her father as a key influencer for the reason.

Bryce Dallas Howard doesn’t plan on retiring from acting anytime soon, although she has started her directing career. Howard has enjoyed a successful acting career, supported by high-profile franchises such as Spiderman 3, terminator redemption, and the Jurassic world Film series as well as work in critically acclaimed films such as The help and rocket Man. In recent years, she has stepped behind the camera and directed two episodes The Mandalorian and a sequence of Boba Fett’s book.

Howard is, of course, the daughter of Ron Howard, who also started out as a child actor The Andy Griffith Show and as he got older he was the star of the hit television series Happy Days and American graffiti before stepping behind the camera. Ron Howard has directed a number of memorable films syringes, apollo 13, and The da Vinci Code and won Best Director for A beautiful spirit. Like his daughter, Howard entered the world of war of stars replaces Phil Lord and Chris Miller as directors of Solo: A Star Wars Story. As Bryce Dallas Howard took a more active role in directing, many assumed that, much like her father, she would quit acting and make directing her main career.

It seems, however, that Howard won’t be retiring from acting anytime soon. Speak at an exclusive IMAX Q&A panel Jurassic World: Dominionabove /MovieAsked about her future as a director, Howard replied that ideally she would like to both act and direct, citing her father’s experience as a director and some regrets he had about his career as a form of inspiration. She says her father wished he’d continued acting to learn more about how other directors solve problems that arise on set, and she takes that advice by wanting to learn from other filmmakers. “What’s so wonderful about becoming an actor interested in directing…is that you see a lot of other directors working. And that’s something my dad — he started out as an actor — when he started directing, he stopped acting, and he said that what he misses the most is seeing different directors solve problems.

“…The more you learn, the more you understand, but the more enlightened you are by every filmmaker you meet. So I hope to continue directing, but I also hope to continue acting because it’s the best way to learn.”

Over the course of her career, Howard has worked with a number of high profile directors such as M. Night Shyamalan, Sam Raimi and David Lowery and likely learned a number of different approaches from this multitude of filmmakers. She is currently set to star in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming Apple TV+ spy movie argyle. In many ways, Howard is following a similar career path as The Mandalorian Creator Jon Favreau, who directs his own films as well as starring in other directors’ projects.

Howard continues to build her career as a director in exciting ways. She will return to direct another episode of The Mandalorian for Season 3 and her work on the war of stars Fans of the Disney+ series took to social media to promote her as a director war of stars Motion pictures. In 2021, she signed on to helm the remake of Flight of the navigator for Disney+. What’s next for Howard remains to be seen, but like her father, it looks like she has a promising career behind the camera.
