The San Francisco 49ers have changed the schedule of their mandatory mini-camp, which was once scheduled for three days. The team has decided to cancel Thursday’s practice, which was set to be the third and final of the week.

Tuesday and Wednesday were the only practice sessions of the week.

The 49ers also opted to cancel media availability on Thursday, so it’s unlikely anything significant will be reported from the team’s Santa Clara setup for the rest of the week, bar roster or contract shifts.

Practice on Thursday was originally scheduled for 10:50 a.m. It could be that head coach Kyle Shanahan has determined his players don’t need the extra training. This week’s minicamp was originally scheduled for next week, and the team decided to bring it forward.

“I don’t think we’ll need 12 [Phase 3 practices]’ Shanahan said Tuesday, ‘so I thought it made more sense to move the minicamp upstairs and bring everyone here. We’ll see how this week goes and what we think we need by the end of the week.”

The 49ers officially excuse Jimmy Garoppolo from mandatory minicamp

This news shouldn’t surprise anyone. The San Francisco 49ers have released quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from this week’s three-day mandatory mini-camp, which begins Tuesday. The minicamp was originally scheduled for next week but was moved to the off-season schedule. Garoppolo is still in rehab from the shoulder surgery he had on March 8 and continues to rehabilitate outside of the team. He is not expected to start pitching before the end of this month, possibly early July. The #49ers have apologized
