British Open 2022 Odds: Surprising PGA tips, golf predictions from top models who hit the Masters

Jon Rahm struggled for the last three rounds of the Scottish Open last week which has resulted in higher odds of winning the 2022 Open Championship than the Spaniard normally has at majors. He is 14-1 in the latest 2022 British Open odds at Caesars Sportsbook, trailing Rory McIlroy (9-1). Rahm finished third at last year’s Open Championship, so should he be included in your 2022 Open Championship bets? He also picked up a win at the Mexico Open earlier this season and carded a top-15 finish at the US Open.

Rahm was the 2021 US Open champion and took world first place en route to last year’s Open Championship. Can he take home the title against a loaded field of the 2022 Open Championship? Before making your selections for the 2022 Open Championship or entering PGA DFS tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to check out PGA Tour predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s trusted golf model.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s up over $9,500 on its best bets since that point, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model included Thomas in his best bets to win the 2022 PGA Championship. That bet came in at +1600 and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets brought in nearly $800. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s model was Scheffler’s first major championship win of his career heading into the weekend.

Also, among McClure’s best bets was Collin Morikawa’s overall win at the 2021 Open Championship, despite being a mighty 40-1 long shot. The model was also featured throughout Rahm’s (10-1) career first major championship win at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead going into the weekend, but the model still predicted him as the winner.

The same model also nailed a whopping eight majors over the weekend. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2022 British Open golf tournament is drawing near, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results were surprising. Now go to SportsLine to see the projected leaderboard.

Top predictions for the Open Championship 2022

A big shock demanded by the model at the Open Championship 2022: Rory McIlroy, the 9-1 favorite of the British Open 2022, fails to win it all, only just finishing in the top three. The 31-year-old Northern Irishman has 35 combined PGA and European Tour wins and three major championships to his name. He won the Open Championship in 2014 and finished third when it was held at St Andrews in 2010.

He’s a regular at majors, but inconsistent play continues to cost him titles. In this season’s three majors, he’s had at least one round of 67 or less, but he’s also had at least one round of 73 or higher. The model is urging him to come up short again, making him one of the favorites to fade in the 2022 British Open betting.

Another surprise: Will Zalatoris, a 25-1 long-range shot, makes a strong run to the title. It is a destination for anyone looking for a big payday. Zulatoris was forced to withdraw from the 2021 Open Championship due to injury ahead of his start time in the second round. He was in contention after carding one under 69 in his opening round in his Open debut. His success continued that season as he lost a three-hole playoff to Justin Thomas at the PGA Championship before narrowly losing to Matthew Fitzpatrick at the US Open.

He also finished sixth at the Masters, bringing him to six top-eight finishes in his last eight Majors. Zalatoris has almost cracked the top 10 in the world rankings despite not having a PGA Tour title under his belt. He has shown he has what it takes to compete in any major tournament he enters, making him a strong bet with high odds this weekend. See who else you can pick here.

How to Make 2022 Open Championship Picks

The model targets three other golfers at odds of 22-1 or greater who will make surprise runs. Anyone who bets on those long shots could make it big. You can only see the model selection here.
