Iowa basketball commit, family attacked as pedestrians in downtown Louisville

Hurley first appeared in court Wednesday, where he faces multiple charges including four counts of first-degree assault, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of substances and a license to possess. Hurley held the bulk of the indictment as the judge, head down, set his bail at $500,000 in cash. If he is released on bail, he will be held at home. Members of the Jones family flew in to be by her side, and Ava’s teammates played their first scheduled tournament games in her honor on Wednesday. “We went over everything with them and they were dressed and ready,” Evans said. “Ava is a competitor, she eats, sleeps and breathes basketball, and she would want you to play, so they went for it.” Hurley is scheduled to stand trial again on July 14.

An arrest warrant said Michael Hurley, 33, punched them while they were on the sidewalk. Police say he admitted to taking hydrocodone and was “so tired he couldn’t turn”.
A witness says the scene seemed unreal.
“The next thing I see are bodies flying in the air,” said Sharon Donoho. “I couldn’t believe it, it was like a horror movie.”
The family were taken to UofL Hospital and Norton Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Hurley kept his head down for most of the arraignment when the judge set his bail at $500,000 in cash. If he is released on bail, he will be placed under house arrest.
