Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev have agreed to fight.
UFC CBO Hunter Campbell on Tuesday announced news of verbal agreements by broadcast partner ESPN and reporter Brett Okamoto. The fight is expected to take place at UFC 279 on September 10, scheduled for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After a very public fight and negotiations over a promotional agreement between Diaz and the UFC, the MMA community unsurprisingly had a lot to say about the sudden addition of one of the biggest matchups on the promotion’s calendar.

Wicked and pathetic. This is how they reward 15 years of entertainment. Don’t try so subtly to feed him to the wolves (Borz). Of course Nate is ready to fight the hired idiot. Sincerely hope this miraculously explodes in her face. https://t.co/LPilxBUXXM

Dana White a few weeks ago: Nate has won a fight in five years. He should probably box Jake Paul.
UFC now: But first, let’s compare him to our hottest welterweight prospect… https://t.co/d3lkkt8zDR

Will Nate Diaz walk out in a glow of fame (or some kind of glow) or just not even give AF? Then rest. βπ½ https://t.co/NtDxALLhwH

Find it stupid of Diaz to take up this fight, but if you’re not prepared to fight it in court (a state court stacked against you, mind you) and you want out of your contract, then I think it’s for the best decision you can make. https://t.co/nf9FxihcS8

Nate Diaz’s rep Zach Rosenfield confirms the date and opponent of Diaz’s next appearance to ESPN.

From a sporting point of view, this fight makes no sense. These two shouldn’t be fighting each other.
Dana says that Diaz “only won one fight in 5 years”. Then why pit him against an undefeated top title contender? https://t.co/h9PlFkqtFz
