DESIGN. TO BUILD. ACCELERATE. ON THE ULTIMATE WORKSTATION PROCESSOR

AMD launched the AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ line of disruptive, high-performance desktop processors in 2017. Since then, Threadripper processors have quickly become the processor and computing platform of choice for the world’s most demanding artists, architects, and engineers. Each successive generation has added significant raw CPU power alongside improved platform capability and expandability. Creative professionals know that time is money, and Threadripper processors have evolved into a trusted platform that helps top-tier content creators get more done in less time.

In March 2022 AMD released the latest AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX series processors with our OEM partner Lenovo and the ThinkStation P620. This legendary feature is now extended to the Dell Precision 7865 workstation.

As AMD continues to grow its workstation business, we are pleased to announce that Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX series processors will be available from leading system integrators worldwide beginning in July2022. We expect to make these processors available to our DIY community later this year.

SIMPLIFICATION OF THE PLATFORM

Threadripper processors have always been a platform characterized by leading-edge performance and capabilities that enable unlimited creative potential. Examining what our most demanding enthusiasts and content creators value most about the platform led us to unify the Threadripper and Threadripper PRO product lines. Going forward, the Threadripper platform will now use a single “shared infrastructure”. That means there will be a set of Threadripper PRO processors with a CPU socket and chipset to choose from, and each processor will be based on AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO silicon. It also means that all Threadripper processors natively offer: 128 lanes of PCIe® Gen 4, 8-channel UDIMM and RDIMM support for more flexible memory configurations, massive L3 cache, and the benefit of security and management features dedicated to the Ryzen PRO processor together are family. Impressive hardware specs like these are a big part of why enthusiasts and professional developers alike trust Threadripper processors.

OC SUPPORT

In addition to the PRO feature set, users continue to have access to the same exciting features that have made Threadripper processors a true enthusiast platform. Choose WRX80 motherboards from our ODM partners supports both memory and CPU overclocking** for users who want to push the limits of their workstation even further.

UPGRADE FROM ZEN 2 TO ZEN 3 CORE ARCHITECTURE

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX processors are designed for the WRX80 chipset and the sWRX8 CPU socket. Customers with a WRX80 chipset-based motherboard can drop-in upgrade to Threadripper PRO 5000 WX series processors after a BIOS update if they choose to do so.

In this new “single-socket” world for the “Zen 3” architecture, new motherboards for Threadripper processors will be based on the WRX80 chipset. If there is one With a range of Threadripper processor models, all you have to do is select the number of cores you want and a motherboard with the features you need.

AMD is passionate about helping customers maximize their creative potential. With this new unified suite of performance and features now available to all Threadripper customers, there’s never been a better time to upgrade your workstation and get more done in less time.
